Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside”; after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent”
Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease of life when he responds to a private detective’s ad and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation of a nursing home. He says, “A mole agent”; documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar regardless of age, ethnicity or gender, and I would describe that feeling in a very reductive way: “I need to call my mom.” In our show, we tried to do a similar thing with the tone: Basically, does our show promote the feeling of wanting to call our mothers?.
I love Ted Danson!
Remake of the movie El agente topo (2020). And he played a very good Widower, stuck in a mourning routine after losing his wife.
It’s also funny and silly in typical Danson fashion
The show is heartwarming and depicts the necessary companionship of both family and friends as you age, especially after losing a loved one. It’s easy to watch, easy to laugh with its touching moments, and I’m looking forward to the second season!
And it doesn’t hurt that he’s a good actor!
It’s quick and easy to start and all 8 episodes are easy to watch. I recommend it to anyone who likes goofy comedies but also wants a good time.
